The Patton Model FOI-2981-ST provide electrical isolation and audio line extension. A typical link consists of an FOI-2981 at one end of the network transmitting optical signals to an FOI-4982 at the other end of the network. This multi-use box is excellent for providing voice announcements, background music and dry-contact doorbell connectivity over fiber.
Because is supports multiple audio inputs, the system can support one input for voice announcements and another for background music while providing dry contact for doorbell. Inputs are prioritized for remote play whereby input A overrides inputs B and C and C overrides B.
The unit can be used in areas of high electrical noise or in and out of RF shielded enclosures. The fiber optic cable is not susceptible to interference caused by impulse noise, crosstalk, or EMI. Privacy of communications is also enhanced because the fiber optic cable does not radiate any emissions. In addition, fiber optic cable offers much longer transmission distances than copper wiring. Multimode optics on the units can extend the distance to 2km.
FOI version units can be mounted in several redundant powering chassis; rack and wall mount options including Tempest and NEMA alternatives.
